SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – As the summer draws nearer, so too does the peak moving season for military members and their families with permanent changes of station.

That peak season also means an increase in activity for the Sheppard AFB Traffic Management Office, located in Bldg. 402, room 110.

A good place to start for those receiving a notification of assignment, according to TMO, is move.mil, a website that provides valuable moving information and tips before customers visit TMO.

Upon receiving orders, members must report to TMO in person at their earliest convenience. First-time movers, Airmen in Training, retirees, or members separating from the service must contact TMO to schedule a briefing.  All other members can use the move.mil website to start their household good shipment.

Members can complete personal property movement documents on move.mil.

During peak summer season, members are required to give three to four weeks’ notice for all shipments to include alternate pack and pickup dates. TMO will make every attempt to book your first-choice date, but this will not always be possible during peak season.

Call 940-676-5499 or 940-676-2457 for more information or visit TMO Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.  The office is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursdays. TMO manages the movement of in- and outbound household goods as well as arrangements for passengers.

For those choosing to do a Personal Procured Move, more commonly known as a Do-It-Yourself move, Sheppard has a new certified base weight scale located on Bridwell Road between Bldgs. 2113 (82nd Mission Support Group) and 2118 (82nd Security Forces Squadron). Operating hours for the scale is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. with the exception of federal holidays and Air Education and Training Command family days.

There is no cost to members to use the scale, but they must have a Common Access Card and a DD Form 2278.

For more information, call 940-676-8301 or 940-676-8302. Callers using DSN can call 312-736-8301 or 312-736-8302.
