Staff Sgt. Emmanuel Escobar, 359th Training Squadron military training leader and native of El Paso, Texas, has been in the Air Force for 10 years and is the MTL of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of Sept. 20-26, 2016.

Most significant accomplishments:

“Becoming a Military Training Leader is one of my most significant accomplishments,” Escobar said. “I am still learning everything about the job but I am excited about being able to work with and help mold young Airmen into future leaders.”

Airman’s story:

“I came into the Air Force in 2006 right out of high school,” he said. “I joined to travel and serve my country, and I have been able to do so. Up until this assignment, I have been stationed overseas in my original AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code) Air Transportation. I am finishing my first month as an MTL and I am looking forward to the knowledge I will gain.”

Supervisor comments:

“In his short time with the 359th, Staff Sergeant Escobar has been a pivotal team member in the Military Training Flight machine,” said Tech Sgt. Ya’acov Mosly, military training flight chief. “He has proven himself to be a superb military training leader by navigating through three emergency leave situations, along with being a driving force behind a humanitarian assignment for one of our non-prior service Airman. He used his experience as an air transportation specialist to lead a joint service team of Airmen, Sailors and Marines to support ground crew operations in support of the Secretary of Defense and Joint Civilian Orientation Conference. He has been recognized for his outstanding can-do attitude by the 96th Test Wing commander along with the command chief. Staff Sergeant Escobar epitomizes the true meaning of service before self, and will be a great addition to any unit in the U.S. Air Force.”
