Blue Bell recalls chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream

Blue Bell Creameries recently announced a voluntary recall of Blue Bell Ice Cream with chocolate chip cookie dough, due to the potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. 

Listeriosis is a serious infection of Listeria monocytogenes stemming from consuming contaminated food. Some of the symptoms that may occur are high fever, severe headaches, stiffness of the neck, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can also cause serious and sometimes fatal in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. This infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Consumers should not eat the recalled products and are encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, consumers with questions may call 979-836-7977, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. CST.
