Unit:                      Detachment 2, 372nd Training Squadron

Location:             Shaw AFB, SC

Mission:              To train aircraft and equipment maintainers to meet training, exercise, and real world commitments anytime and anywhere

Vision:                  Provide superb maintenance training and technical support to enhance the Air Force global mission, when and where needed.

Motto:                  We teach with Global Reach!

Staff:                     20 Active Duty

What We Do:

“Our detachment supports the host 20th Fighter Wing and the 495th Operations Group,” said Detachment Chief Senior Master Sgt. Robert Patterson.  “We have 19 instructors across nine AFSCs that directly support the largest CAF F-16 unit in the Air Force.  Over the last year the detachment has graduated over 500 warriors.  Additionally, we go where the training is required.  Our professionals orchestrated and executed 10 mobile training teams impacting four MAJCOMS around the globe.”

Accomplishments:

“Along with our training mission, our detachment has focused on improving the unit, leading people, and managing resources,” said Detachment Chief Senior Master Sgt. Patterson.  “We have made tremendous strides in improving the unit by acquiring 70 iPads for use in our detachment.  Through perseverance and maintenance of our relationship with the host MXG, we have successfully matched real world equipment with the training environment.  Our detachment has paved the way in the department of leading people as well.  The detachment was instrumental in developing a training plan for more than thirty C-130 cross-trainee crew chiefs.  We worked with the host MTF and AFETS to develop a plan that would provide initial skills qualifications to the trainees culminating with the awarding of their 3-level.  The training plan was benchmarked by ACC A4M during a recent site visit.  We have also proactively managed our resources by conducting a 100% inventory on training device crates in preparation for an avionics trainer upgrade.  The modification is part of a larger plan to reduce our classroom space requirement from three classrooms to two. We are actively reducing our footprint at the detachment in preparation for a possible move in our future.”

“Detachment 2 actively supports the base and community through programs such as Adopt a Highway, Meals on Wheels, and involvement with all 20FW professional organizations. Train and inspire warriors……..that’s what we do!”
