Sheppard AFB enters 3rd week of Air Force Assistance Fund Campaign

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Sheppard continued strong in this year’s Air Force Assistance Fund campaign. The second week closed with $27,115 in contributions and Sheppard reaching over 50 percent of the installation goal.

With four weeks left in the campaign, everyone is encouraged to continue the strong momentum and participate. Moving forward, an Air Force Assistance Fund charity will be highlighted. This week’s spotlight is the Air Force Aid Society.

AFAS is one of the few official charities of the Department of the Air Force. AFAS provides emergency financial assistance, educational assistance and other programs for Air Force families. In the past year AFAS contributed over $12.5 million in aid directly to Department of the Air Force members.

Types of assistance included loans and grants for those affected by COVID-19, funeral expenses, education grants much more. AFAS reported helping over 15,300 people in 2020. AFAS also contributed to child care, parenting education and readiness programs.

At Sheppard, AFAS contributed almost $61,000 in financial assistance and donations to community programs.
