Col. John Hollister assumed command of the 82nd Mission Support Group from Col. Charles St.Sauver during a ceremony officiated by Brig. Gen. George Dietrich III July 7, 2023 here.

Hollister, who enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 and earned his commission in 2000, joins Team Sheppard from the National Security Agency, where he was the Chief of Defensive Network Operations.

As Dietrich welcomed Hollister and his family, he explained that Hollister’s extensive operational experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead the 82nd MSG, praising his leadership style, strategic mind, and focus on continuous process improvement and innovation.

After receiving the guidon and assuming command, Hollister addressed the 82nd MSG for the first time as their leader. After he thanked Sheppard personnel for a warm welcome, he acknowledged the sacrifices his family has made in a dual-military family. Addressing his wife, Col. Tammy Hollister, and their children, Hollister remarked that they are finally in the same time zone.

Hollister said he was honored to join the team and looked forward to maintaining the forward momentum started under  St.Sauver, who is headed to Pennsylvania State University as a Reserve Officer Training Corps instructor.

“I look forward to rolling up my sleeves to help you support the mission here as the most diverse training base at AETC,” Hollister said. “I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure you have what you need so you can remain laser-focused on your mission.”
