The 82nd Contracting Squadron kept their undefeated season going with a 67-30 win over the 82nd Medical Operations Squadron in intramural basketball action Jan. 8.

The 82nd CONS played a solid game, taking an early lead and holding their position the entire game. The win takes their record to 5 and 0, putting them in a strong place early in the season.

"Our post play continually puts our team in a position to win," said 82nd CONS player Haven Wynne. "I attribute much of our success to squadron support. Our squadron memebers take time out of their week to coach, play, practice and cheer us to victory, and we couldn't be more appreciative."

Assistant coach for the 82nd CONS, Courtney Thompson, said a solid defense and strong defensive rebounds led to their early domination.

With a score of 36-7 at the half, the 82nd CONS had a domineering lead that allowed them to play the game at their pace and focus on maintaining the lead they already had. Unfortunately for the 82nd MDOS, their pace didn't slow on defense though and continually denied them the chance to score.

The 82nd MDOS came back from half time strong, wracking up points again and again. But the 82nd CONS continued good play and maintained a 20 point buffer for the remainder of the game.
Wynne said the 82nd CONS isn't going to sit tight and hope to continue winning though,.

"Conditioning is always a concern when making a playoff and finals run," he said. "We will step our practice up a bit and focus on conditioning."

Assistant coach Thompson doesn't seem to have many worries though.

"I feel the guys are working really well together as a team," she said. "This is their first year playing together and they have really shown what teamwork is all about. That alone, with the skills that each and everyone of them possess, will put them in the finals and guide them to win the finals."
