General Mills Recall: Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars & Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars

General Mills has issued a recall as part of the supplier SunOpta’s ongoing national recall for potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. There are four specific flavors of Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars part of this recall. These products of General Mills contain ingredients from the sunflower kernel supplier, SunOpta. General Mills has not received any reports of confirmed cases related to this supplier issue.

When the organism Listeria monocytogenes contaminates food and is consumed, a serious infection of Listeriosis is possible. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
