1st Lt. Richard
Davison II, 90th Flying Training Squadron T-38 instructor pilot and flight scheduler,
is a native of Pensacola, Florida, and has been in the Air Force for 12
years. Davison is the Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas
for the week of Dec. 27, 2016 – Jan. 2, 2017.
Most significant accomplishments:
- Married his wife and became a father of two daughters
- Received his Community College of the Air Force degree
- Promoted to Technical Sergeant on his first attempt
- Earned his Bachelor’s degree
- Received his Air Force Commission
- Finished pilot training in the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training
Program and earned his wings
- Earned Most Valuable Instructor Pilot for class 17-02
Airman’s story:
“I was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, and enlisted
in the Air Force in 2004 as an ammunition troop,” Davison said. “I was
stationed at Offutt Air Force Base from 2004-2006, Osan Air Base from 2006-2007,
and Nellis Air Force Base from 2007-2013. It was at Nellis where I met my
wonderful wife and we had two beautiful children, Laura and Daisy. From there,
I earned my commission and went to pilot training at Sheppard. I am now
assigned to the 90th Flying Training Squadron as a first assignment T-38 instructor
pilot.”

Davison does an outstanding job as a flight scheduler and T-38 instructor
pilot,” said Lt. Col. Andreas Hauke, 90th FTS, commander. “He is responsible
for scheduling more than 4,200 flights, simulator training sessions, and
academic events for 22 student pilots annually. This November, his efforts
helped graduate 11 new pilots to the NATO alliance, three days ahead of
timeline.”
“Lieutenant Davison earned the student pilot nominated ‘Most
Valuable Instructor Pilot’ for class 17-02 due to his excellent instruction and
ability to connect with the student pilots. Lieutenant Davison’s professional
demeanor and excellent humor provide a very high standard to which other squadron
instructor pilots strive to achieve.”
