INTEGRATED RESILIENCE OFFICE MISSION

The Sheppard AFB Integrated Resilience Office (IRO) supports the well-being of airmen, guardians, and families to ensure they reach their full potential. The IRO works with leaders throughout the installation to build healthy climates and create environments free from abuse and harm.

INTEGRATED PRIMARY PREVENTION WORKFORCE

Under the umbrella of the Integrated Resilience Office, the personnel within the Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce (IPPW) manage and maintain several primary prevention programs and initiatives to serve Team Sheppard. We aim to reduce the prevalence of Sexual Assault, Domestic Abuse, Child Abuse, Harassment, Retaliation, and Suicide.

MASTER RESILIENCE TRAINERS (MRT) AND RESILIENCE TRAINING ASSISTANTS (RTA)

What is an MRT/RTA?

MRTs and RTAs are certified Military, Civilian and Key Spouse volunteers who conduct resilience training at the installation under the guidance of the local Integrated Resilience Office.  MRTs and RTAs provide resilience training at the First Term Airman Center, all levels of Professional Military Education, commander courses, Executive Group development, senior spouse orientations, and other venues as directed.

COURSES WE OFFER

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST): A two day training where participants learn to make the community safer from suicide by providing life changing suicide first aid interventions and to connect them to further care and support if necessary.

SafeTalk: A four hour session equipping participants to reach out to someone thinking of suicide, with a readiness to start a conversation with this individual and the ability to connect them to the next level of support.

Heart Math: One day training designed to improve emotional wellbeing, physiological coherence, Improves sleep and focus, reduces harmful effects of operational stress and increases ability to sustain cohesion and readiness.

Healthy Relationships: One to four hour course to enhance human relationships by learning to differentiate between healthy/unhealthy relationships; Supportive or defensive communication climates; Boundaries; Conflict resolution; and establishing Positive connections.

Mental Health First Aid:  One day skills-based training course that teaches participants to identify, understand and respond to various mental health emergencies, making mental health first aid as common as CPR.

Emotional Intelligence 1.0: One day training, based on the conceptual framework from EQ2.0, provides you with the strategies to manage your emotions, respond usefully to the emotions of others, and improve personal effectiveness and team performance.

4 Lenses: Four hour personality assessment workshop to gain an understanding of yourself and others’ unique strengths, motivations, and temperaments (personality traits). Communicate more effectively with people with different perspectives.
