Required Items


  • ABUs (primary AFSC occupational badge and authorized headgear)
  • Blues Shirts (long and/or short sleeves)
  • Flight cap (unless authorized to wear beret)
  • Service coat (all accouterments and with matching material/shade pants/skirts)
  • Low quarters, or pumps as applicable.
  • Females are authorized to wear pants or skirt

Note: In accordance with AFI 36-2903, 10.4.6. When performing special duties or attending professional military education, wear primary AFSC occupational badge.

  • Reflective belt (highly encouraged after dark)

NOTE: Summer months reaches more than 100 degrees, and the winter months get below below freezing with ice and snow.

Reporting Instructions


DOT 0 (the day before the first day of training): Report to the Sheppard Inn (Sheppard AFB Lodging). Students report to the Sheppard Inn (Sheppard AFB Lodging) anytime on the travel day.  Reservations have already been made by the Sheppard NCO Academy. Students should bring personal or government issued laptop to Sheppard Inn Common Area on the 2nd Floor (next to the business center).  Students will be required to log-in to the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure personal laptop compatibility.

DOT 1 (first day of training):  Report to the Sheppard NCO Academy, 939 Missile Road, Bldg. 1900.  The front doors will open at 0645.  All students must report NLT 0700 (CST). (There is no need to arrive earlier than 0645).



  • Copy of current AF fitness test printed from AF Portal, test must be current through the last day of class
  • Information Assurance Certificate must be current (not required to print out)
  • If applicable, AF Form 422/Physical Profile Serial Report and AF Form 469/Duty Limiting Condition Report (MUST be coordinated with NCO Academy and Formal Training NLT 35 days prior to class start)


Additional Information

There are no emergency medical services at the Sheppard Clinic, proceed to United Regional Hospital downtown or call 911 in the event of an emergency.


Uniform Requirements: ABU (wear primary AFSC occupational badge), Physical Training Uniform for organized PT (Mandatory), Service Dress Uniform (Skirt and/or pants for female), Appropriate Civilian Attire (For class social and community events).

The Tumbleweed Dining Facility is located near the lodging office and is the primary facility for NCOA students to use. TDY per diem is based on ALL MEALS being available during your stay as a Sheppard NCO Academy student.

The NCOA is located about a mile from the lodging area and is a 15 minute walk north on Ave J, past the aircraft training ramp.

Both the academy and lodging are on located on the bus route, the bus runs every 30 minutes during the week and takes about 7 minutes to arrive at the academy. Be sure to note the bus stop location in front of the NCOA lodging area and the departure time if you plan on riding the bus once you arrive.
