Colonel Kellie S. Courtland is the Deputy Commander, 82nd Training Wing, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. As the deputy commander, she assists and advises the commander responsible for the training of more than 65,000 officers and enlisted Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and international students annually at Sheppard AFB and 63 geographically separated units worldwide. The 82nd Training Wing produces nearly half of all Air force technical training graduates every year, delivering instruction in aircraft and munitions maintenance, logistics, civil engineering, nuclear operations, and telecommunications career fields. The wing consists of three training groups, a mission support group and a medical group, while providing base support services to the 80th Flying Training Wing’s Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program and a Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
Colonel Courtland enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 as a Services Specialist. During her enlisted time, she served as a Master Military Training Instructor “Blue Rope” and Air Education and Training Command Master Instructor at Lackland AFB. She was commissioned in 2002 through Officer Training School. Her degrees include an undergraduate degree from Wayland Baptist University, master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma and the National Defense University, and a Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management from Penn State University. She is certified as a Level II Life Cycle Logistician and Level I Program Manager through the Defense Acquisition University. Prior to her current position, Colonel Courtland was the Military Deputy for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Colonel Courtland’s assignments include Director of the Commander's Action Group for Air Force Global Strike Command at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; the Commander of the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron at Al Udeid AB, Qatar; the Commander of the 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Whiteman AFB, Missouri; and as the Defense Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
