Colonel Ryan D. Serrill is the Deputy Commander at the 80th Flying Training Wing, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The wing consists of more than 1,300 military, civilian and contract personnel, and has over 200 military aircraft. Col. Shulman leads the execution of 55,000 sorties and 66,000 hours annually for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program. ENJJPT is the world’s only internationally manned and managed undergraduate pilot training program, in which 14 NATO nations participate: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition to undergraduate pilot training, the wing also hosts Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals and pilot instructor training.
Col Serrill is a 2001 distinguished graduate of the University of Washington Reserve Officer Training Corps program.
He has served as an exchange officer with the Royal Air Force, Fighter Wing Director of Staff, and Squadron Director of Operations and Commander. His combat experience includes 40 sorties as a Tornado GR4 pilot, 41 sorties as an F-16 pilot, and over 100 missions as a U-28 combat systems officer, totaling more than 950 combat hours in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to his current position, Col Serrill served as the Deputy Commander at the 80th Operations Group, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, as the primary advisor to an allied Operations Group Commander on U. S. Air Force and Air Education and Training Command policies, programs, and procedures.
