Chief Master Sergeant Jalil J. Samavarchian serves as the Command Chief of the 82nd Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. In this role, he is the senior enlisted leader for the wing and advances the commander’s mission by strengthening combat readiness and professional development for the permanent party force and nearly 65,000 Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and international students each year. This mission extends across Sheppard AFB and the wing’s 63 detached units worldwide. He also directly supports the mission of the 80th Flying Training Wing, which generates 66,000 sorties annually to train combat pilots for the United States and its NATO partners.
Chief Samavarchian’s commitment to service was cemented on September 11, 2001, when he witnessed the attacks while at MEPS preparing to enter the Delayed Entry Program. He began his career in the maintenance field, serving at the unit, MAJCOM, and HAF levels. Over the years, he contributed to maintenance and training efforts across a wide range of aircraft, ultimately rising to the position of Career Field Manager. His career includes roles as a First Term Airmen Center Team Leader, Additional Duty First Sergeant, Inspector General at Air Mobility Command, and MXG Group SEL. His deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Odyssey Dawn further underscore his dedication to the mission and to Airmen.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Command Chief of a Data Masked organization where he led and advised all military, civilian and project contractor activity while exercising stewardship over ten billion dollars in resources across multiple locations.
