The 364th Training Squadron Booster Club held a Santa Hat and Toy Run for service members and civilian personnel assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base Dec. 20.

All participants were encouraged to donate an unwrapped gift to the Children's Aid Society of West Texas and wear a Santa hat throughout the run.

“I hope this run leaves you feeling motivated and helps you maintain your focus on what is important this holiday season,” said Air Force Capt. Bradley Schmidt.

The event was designed to boost morale and provide Christmas gifts for children in the local community.

“Sheppard has gone above and beyond to help us over the years,” said Sheila Choate, executive director of Children's Aid Society of West Texas. “We would not be where we are today without the support of the military.”

The Children's Aid Society of West Texas provides shelter, supervision and counseling for children in crisis.

“It is really moving that Sheppard incorporated us into this event and gave Christmas gifts to children in need,” said Choate.

The 364th Training Squadron provides technical training for Airmen in aircraft electrical, telecommunications cable and antennas, and aircraft fuels maintenance.

“Through this event, the Squadron aims to deliver a message of hope,” said Marine Staff Sgt. Carlos Rivera, an event coordinator. “These toys may be the only gifts the children receive this holiday season.”
