Cinderella's Closet offers formal dresses for loan Published Jan. 26, 2017 By Aliza Reisberg 82nd Training Wing SHEPPARD AFB, Texas -- For women looking to get dressed up for a special occasion without buying a new dress they’ll only wear once, Cinderella’s Closet at Sheppard Air Force Base offers an easy solution. Sheppard Thrift Shop Manager Jennifer Jenkins opened Cinderella’s Closet in November 2016 when her friend, a bridal shop owner, closed her business. As a way to benefit military families, the owner donated nearly 200 brand-new dresses to help start Cinderella’s Closet. Anyone with a military ID can borrow a dress for free, provided they have it dry-cleaned before returning it. The program has dresses for all occasions including prom dresses, cocktail gowns, bridesmaid dresses and many more in sizes 4-26. Cassie Quintero-Slane took advantage of Cinderella’s Closet in December for a holiday party. “Cinderella’s Closet was very accommodating to times and dates for me to come and look for a dress,” said Quintero-Slane. “I received many compliments on my dress and love that it won’t be sitting in my closet forever.” With annual awards events coming up for both Sheppard wings, Cinderella’s Closet has seen business pick up as military families decide what to wear to the events.
