Senior Airman Jaron Brandon, 82nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, cargo movement specialist and native of Springfield, Ohio, has been in the Air Force for two years and is the Support Airman of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of April 4-10, 2017.

Most significant accomplishments:

“This year I started coaching six youth basketball players and we finished 2017 with a 4-3 winning record,” Brandon said. “I also won Airman of the Week at the Wing in 2015 and I was able to purchase my dream car; a 2007 Dodge Charger RT.”

Airman’s story:

“I’m 23 and hail from Springfield, Ohio,” he said. “I’m the son of a preacher and the youngest of four kids. I’m also the first in my family to enlist active duty, in any branch of service.”

Supervisor’s comments:

“Senior Airman Brandon provides cargo movement expertise for the 82nd Training and the 80th Flying Training Wings at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, moving 1.1 million pounds of ground freight a year which support 30,000 T-6 and T-38 flight hours for the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program,” said Capt. Keisha Meyer, 82nd LRS Director of Operations. “He processes 14,000 pounds -- $54 million -- of Ammunition deliveries which assists in the readiness of 65,000 technical training Airmen and 100 deploying permanent party Airmen annually.”

“Senior Airman Brandon is the primary on-the-job trainer for the new ground transportation troops arriving to the 82nd LRS, teaching all skills necessary for our new troops to attain their 5-level certification,” Meyer continued. “Senior Airman Brandon’s personality and sense of humor improve the day-to-day quality of life in the LRS. He is exactly the kind of troop that makes our Air Force an excellent culture of which we are a part.”
