Staff Sgt. Nicholas Holguin, 372nd Training Squadron Detachment 1, F-15 mission ready Airman instructor and native of Arlington, Texas, has been in the Air Force for seven years and is the Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of Aug. 8-14, 2017.

Most significant accomplishments:

“I would say my most significant accomplishment was becoming a technical training instructor, which led me to receive two Community College of the Air Force degrees and set an honorable example for my siblings and fellow Airman,” Holguin said.

Airman’s story:

“As my Air Force career has grown, so has my religious faith,” said Holguin. “I was recently saved Sept. 25, 2016. Since then I've dedicated three days a week to the church and the church’s' youth program. I now mentor North Carolina’s youth and provide them with a positive attitude and example. I've turned my life around from being a self-absorbed individual to a benevolent Airman.”

Supervisor comments:

“Sergeant Holguin is an F-15 mission ready Airman instructor that provides hands on training to crew chief trainees on an active flight line,” said Tech. Sgt. Gary Saunders, F-15 mission ready Airman instructor. “The realistic learning environment ensures these aircraft mechanics will be an asset upon arrival to their units. His training directly impacts the future success of the F-15 aircraft fleet and its maintainers.”
