McIlrath 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- American actor and Marine Corps veteran Wilford Brimley visited Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, on Nov. 9, to help celebrate the 242nd Marine Corps birthday at the Mesquite dining facility. Brimley participated in a cake cutting ceremony, where the oldest and youngest Marine in the detachment were served cake first. Brimley was presented a gift by the Marines and closed the celebration with remarks about pride in wearing the uniform as well as pride in serving the country.
