Ensemble Spectrum Winds to perform at MSU Published Dec. 5, 2017 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The sounds of the holidays will come to Wichita Falls Dec. 13 when the Air Force Band of the West’s Spectrum Winds ensemble performs at Midwestern State University. The free concert will be in Akin Auditorium at MSU and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Staff Sgt. Kathleen Keese, an oboist in the ensemble and spokesperson, said the five-piece group will perform traditional Christmas carols as well as put a popular twist on favorites such as “Frosty the Snowman” and “Winter Wonderland.” She said the group will finish their performance with “Sleigh Ride,” which will include percussionists from MSU. In addition to the MSU performance, Spectrum Winds will also visit local schools as well as perform at Sheppard Air Force Base’s Airman Leadership School graduation. Spectrum Winds is an ensemble composed of members of the Air Force Band of the West, which is based out of Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Keese said the band and ensemble perform 10-15 holiday concerts annually.
