Road work on Sheppard to begin April 30 Published April 25, 2018 82nd Mission Support Group SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Road crews will begin work April 30 to rip up and replace streets on Sheppard Air Force Base. Work is planned to be completed by June 22, weather permitting. Specific streets will have the existing asphalt removed and a new layer of asphalt will be laid. Dividing lines will also be repainted on the roadways. The proposed sequence and areas of work as well as affected work hours include: Fifth Avenue from Avenues F and H, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Avenue G from Fifth Avenue to just south of Fourth Avenue, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Fourth Avenue from Avenues F and J, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Third Avenue from Avenues H and J, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. First Avenue from Avenues H and I, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. First Avenue from Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Boulevard to Avenue G, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Contractors will erect traffic control signs to identify temporary lane closures. Daily work will be completed in manageable intervals so access to buildings and parking lots will not be completely restricted. Roadways will be returned to normal operations after each day’s work. Pavement will not be marked for about 10 days after the new asphalt is laid. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to respect barricades and exercise caution while near work locations.
