Club brings back quick, healthy lunch option Published Sept. 4, 2018 By John Ingle 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Sheppard AFB asked, and the 82nd Force Support Squadron’s Sheppard Club listened. After a three- or four-year hiatus of serving lunchtime meals for hungry patrons at the Sheppard Club, a limited lunch menu will return to the club Wednesday through Friday beginning Sept. 5, 2018. Lunch will be 10:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tommy Brooks, 82nd FSS deputy director, said discussions of bringing back some form of a lunch menu began a few months ago when some on Sheppard inquired about the lunchtime dining option. A decision was made to have something simple to swiftly satisfy one’s hunger. “We want people in and out as quickly as possible,” he said, “and with healthy food.” The menu will feature sandwiches ranging in price from $5.95 to $6.95 as well as soup ($3.95), salad bar ($7.95), soup and salad ($10.95), premium salad ($6.95), and soda and water ($1). Thursdays only will also feature a pizza buffet and salad bar combo for $12.95. Club members will receive $1 off. Brooks said they were looking to do something at lunchtime that was cost-effective, time-effective and doable with the size of the club staff. He said the full-service model didn’t work well and wasn’t timely for guests. He said the new set up will be more customer friendly. For more information, call 940-676-2976.
