SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – It is shown the stability of a caring adult – family member, coach, teacher, CDC & Youth Center worker, or another positive adult – in the life of a military child can increase the child’s resilience and be a source of trust and support for the child.

This Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Department of Defense asks all members of the military community to Stand Up for MilKids by committing to be a positive presence in their lives so they can grow up healthy and safe.

As the caring adult, you can do the following:

  • Support parents to seek help when they feel overwhelmed
  • Encourage others to show their support for MilKids and MilParents
  • Be a stable force for good in the life of a military child

During the month, please look for social media posts with tips on how you can be the positive adult in a child’s life and recipes for you and your child to cook together from our Health Promotions team. The posts will be on Sheppard AFB Family Advocacy Program and Airmen & Family Readiness Center (Sheppard AFB) Facebook pages.
