SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – The first week of the annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign strong, achieving $14,062, which is 28 percent of our base’s goal of $49,374.

As we continue the next five weeks of this campaign, we hope that this drive and desire to participate continues. I urge you to give our key workers and volunteers just a few minutes of your time to learn about the different charities. And I hope it inspires you to be part of the family to “take care of our own”.

I will continue to provide you with campaign updates, along with articles or videos highlighting one of charities each week. This week will feature an AFAF video featuring all the four charities:

  • The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation supports widows and widowers of Air Force retirees, both officer and enlisted, in the event of a financial need, by giving grants of assistance.
  • The Air Force Enlisted Village, for enlisted widows and widowers, and the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, for officer widows and widowers, provide a secure and friendly place to live among friends with a similar background.
  • The Air Force Aid Society helps active duty Airmen and Guardians in times of emergencies by providing loans and grants, and supports base enhancement programs.

Our key workers will continue reaching out throughout our squadrons.  If you need a list of key workers, please call me at 940-676-5777 or Master Sgt. Jacob Benke at 940-676-3466. We are this year’s installation project officers.

You may also donate directly to the campaign by going to www.afassistancefund.org and clicking the “Donate Now” button.  Or by texting “AFAF” to 50155.  Be sure to select SHEPPARD as your base on the e-giving form.  You may also enter your unit of assignment (i.e. 361TRS, 459FTS, and etc.) to add to your unit’s contribution numbers.
