FROM THE FIRST SERGEANT WARMHEART COUNCIL

The First Sergeant Warmheart Council is hosting the first-ever Softball Tournament here on Sheppard AFB!! Come out and represent your team, your swag, and just have fun!!

 

WHAT:  First Sergeant Warmheart First-Ever Annual Softball Tournament

WHEN:  15-17 September (15 Sept – first game starts at 1700, 16-17 Sept:  0900-2300)

WHERE:  Softball Fields 2 & 3 / Sheppard AFB

WHY:  We want to show our Sheppard AFB Permanent Party personnel love!! This morale event is set up just for you! Take a break, enjoy great food, drinks, and play your heart out before 2024 creeps up on us!

HOW: 10-16 Teams can participate (12 per team). Cost will be $300 per Team ($300\12 = affordable). Guarantee 5 games, 3-game round robin then double elimination. On Saturday – Home Run Derby $10/10 swings aaand….you can choose your pitcher!

YOUTH CENTER

The Youth Center needs Volunteer T-Ball coaches. There are two different age groups for T-Ball this season.  The 3 & 4 yr. old meets once a week as he 5 & 6 yr. old age group practices twice a week with games on Saturday mornings.   Please call 940-676-7657 or email lawrence.hein.3@us.af.mil if interested or have further questions. The season starts 11 September 2023 and ends the beginning of November.

SAFETY CORNER – BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY

Hey Ms. Frizzle, what is today’s adventure? Whether you are crying happy tears or sad tears, the time has come! Remember that SAFB does have an Elementary School located on base. Allow for extra time and be aware or your surroundings when driving through any school zone!

Quick Tips for Drivers

  • Don’t block crosswalks.
  • Yield to pedestrians, never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians.
  • Never pass a school bus, change lanes, or make U-turns while in a school zone.
  • Always stop for loading and unloading of school buses.
  • PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY.

Quick Tips for Walkers

       -  Walk on the sidewalk where possible.

       -  Look all ways before crossing.

       -  Do not walk with headphones in/on.

       -  Parents: practice a routine with your child(ren).

Quick Tips for Bus Riders

       -  If seat belts are available, buckle up.

       -  Wait for the bus to stop completely before standing up.

       -  Wait for the bus driver to motion for crossing.

Quick Tips for Bike Riders

       -  Always wear a fitted and secured helmet; wear bright/reflective clothing.

       -  Walk the bike across the street; use hand signals when turning.

       -  Watch for opening car doors and other hazards.
