FROM THE 82D SECURITY FORCES SQUADRON/VISITORS CENTER
For all civil servant retirees that utilize Sheppard AFB, the DoD has issued information regarding the future of civil servant retirees CACs. Due to this information all civil servant retirees will need to eventually come to the SAFB visitor center during duty hours, M-F 0630-1630, to get their RealID state ID/drivers license registered into the DBIDs system for base access. Per the provided link civil servant retirees IDs will no longer be issued as of 31 August 2023, this should mean that if any civil servant retirees have a valid ID that is not expired it should still authorize them access to the installation up to that listed expiration date.

If that is the case, then civil servant retirees would only need to come to the VCC to get their RealID registered to their DBIDs account once their current credential expires.

If that is not the case and RAPIDs/DEERs does in fact remove all civil servant retirees credentials from their system on 31 August, then all civil servant retirees requiring access to the installation after that date would need to come to the VCC to have their RealIDs registered to their DBIDs profiles.

This process takes approximately 5-10 minutes and all that is required to complete it is the Form 50, proving they are a DoD civil servant retirees authorized base access, and their RealID compliant ID card.
