Lifters will be judged on the Squat, Bench, & Deadlift. The competition will resemble a USAPL style meet. The lifter who totals the highest DOT Score, will be awarded the Top III Sponsorship to compete at the 2024 USAPL Military National Championships and represent Sheppard AFB & the USAF. NATIONAL DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH “Silence is the last thing the world will ever hear from me.” – Marlee Matlin Story: The youngest Best Actress winner and only deaf actor to win an Academy Award. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in the 1986 film “Children of a Lesser God”. Marlee went mostly deaf at 18 months old. Originally, she aspired to be a police officer, after learning that her deafness would severely limit her in law enforcement, she was selected for a leading role in her Golden Globe Winning movie where she used only American Sign Language for communication. She has been a frontrunner of hearing-impaired actors and actresses in theatre and the big screen.
