Education Fair will be on 15 Nov 23 from 0900 – 1600 at the Sheppard Event Center, bldg 340. The event is open to all active-duty military, family members, retires, and DoD Civilians.

NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

Join us for Native American Heritage Month!

  • Native American Cultural Showcase

Nov. 16th at the Events Center at 11:00 AM. We'll be having a Comanche Nation dance exhibition.

  • Story Time

Nov.  22nd at the Base Library at 10:00 AM. We'll be reading Native American children's books followed by a fun craft session.

 

We're continuously looking for volunteers from all backgrounds to help us highlight Native American Heritage throughout November at Sheppard AFB. Whether it’s your first year or you are the best in your town, remember to take the necessary precautions before setting out for hunting season! Read on for a few reminders…

Quick Tips

  • Know and follow the 4 basic rules of firearm safety:
    • Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
    • Never point at anything you don’t intend to shoot.
    • Keep your finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.
    • Know what is beyond your target.
  • Wear blaze orange clothing.
  • Complete a state-certified hunter education course.
  • Check the weather before you go and plan ahead.
  • Bring dry clothing and enough food & water.
  • Never place your stand above 16 feet & always use 3 points of contact when climbing.
