Sheppard fishing annex gets face lift Published June 12, 2013 By Airman 1st Class Jelani Gibson 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The newly-renovated Crappie House at the recreation annex, at Lake Texoma, officially opened for fishing June 8. The Crappie House, named after the popular game fish, is a featured attraction at the Lake Texoma recreational area, which is open to military and civilians alike. "This is an event that marks the fulfillment of a dream that started more than 20 years ago," said Brig. Gen. Michael Fantini, 82nd Training Wing commander. "The old Crappie house had been deteriorating for many years, but you just don't decide to build a new facility one day and start building it the next." Fantini congratulated the many people who had a part in renovating the house that had been a staple in the community for over two decades. "It takes a lot of man-hours from many different people to create what we are here to celebrate today," Fantini said.
