Jacob Jaynes, 82nd Security Forces NCOIC of training, was named the 82nd TRW "Commander's Wingman of Choice" award winner for the week of April 15-19. The 82nd Training Wing "Commander's Wingman of Choice" award program is the commander's way of acknowledging Airmen for a job well done and to recognize Airmen who exemplify the spirit of the program. Criteria for consideration include outstanding duty performance, community involvement and exemplary leadership. Future goals: I have two short term goals and two long term goals. Short term: Promote to TSgt and complete my CCAF degree by 2014. Long term: Continue to progress in the Security Forces Career Field and make MSgt on my first attempt. Greatest accomplishment: Marrying my wife. She is my everything. Hobbies, off-duty interests: Lifting weights and involvement at the Animal Shelter. Anything sports. Why is this person the Wingman of Choice? Sergeant Jaynes is responsible for ensuring 137 active duty and reserve Security Forces Airmen and 16 Department of the Air Force police officers receive the mandated 107 hours of Security Forces-specific training annually. Additionally, he oversees the Security Forces augmentee training program, providing 40 hours of training to more than 50 base personnel in order to support base security requirements in increased force protection levels. Recently, Sergeant Jaynes coordinated with the Wichita Falls Police Department (WFPD) to conduct joint Active Shooter training, providing 75 Security Forces and WFPD personnel 104 hours of training on advanced response tactics. Additionally, Staff Sgt. Jaynes organized a base orientation for the WFPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. He also escorted the SWAT team to six high-risk base facilities, cementing their familiarization with the buildings if required to respond in an emergency situation. Lastly, Sergeant Jaynes is the president of the Unit Advisory Council, where he plans numerous morale events for unit personnel. Commander's comments: Major Robert L. As NCOIC, Security Forces Training he directly trains over 150 security members yearly to include Department of AF Police Officers and SF Reservists. Additionally, Sergeant Jaynes is SF's liaison link with our off-base Law Enforcement (LE) counterparts as he obtained many law enforcement courses, free of charge for our personnel. He orchestrated Active Shooter scenario support/training between SF & WFPD as well as arranged a WFPD SWAT recon walk through of 82 TRW and 80 FTW critical facilities in advance of any potential high risk situations. His dedication and drive to improve unit member's knowledge base shows daily by his actions and has significantly boosted performance rates for well over 100 members. This NCO is a true leader who inspires others through training.
