The ACE award is the highest academic honor a student can receive and is earned for exceptional performance by maintaining a perfect 100% average through the entire course.

The 36-day long course covers five blocks of instruction including maintenance fundamentals, fuel systems, fuel tank entry/confined spaces, fuel cells and integral fuel tanks.

Blackwell is from Vancouver, Wash and is retraining from the Aerospace Ground Equipment career field.

The 10-year Air Force veteran is currently assigned to the 55th Maintenance Squadron at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Neb.  Blackwell is getting ready to change stations to the 92nd Maintenance Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash.
