KIR focus week to run April 8-13 Published March 26, 2013 By Dan Hawkins 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The next "Keep it Rollin'" Focus Week will run here April 8-13 and will include an 82nd Training Wing commander's call at the base theater. In addition, this quarter's special guest speaker will be Angel Tucker, who will present three seminars on how to use individual's personality strengths in developing leadership skills. "Focus week allows leadership to increase their focus on programs that support and educate our Airmen," said Kristen Gibson, 82 TRW community support coordinator. "Our programs cover the four pillars of resilience, which are social, mental, spiritual and physical." The idea behind "Keep it Rollin'" week is to increase attention on already existing support programs, while at the same offering new programs to help motivate and inspire Airmen, said Gibson. Brig. Gen. Michael Fantini, 82nd TRW commander, is scheduled to host two commander's call sessions on April 8 at the theater. The first session is at 8 a.m.; the second session begins at 3 p.m. The 8 a.m. commander's call will also be live-streamed over the Defense Connect Online (DCO) network. The general, along with Chief Master Sgt. Eric Johnson, 82nd TRW command chief, will also host a Military Training Leader's call beginning at 1:15 p.m. on April 8. The MTL call will be available online through DCO as well. Ensuring everybody takes the time out of their busy schedules to attend focus week events is time well spent. "Take a look at the calendar and see what events are going on during the week," Gibson said. "You can pack a lunch and attend of the lunch-time events. You can't put a value on education and these courses will help give you the life skills needed to be successful in your career." Gibson went on to talk about the value of supervisors and senior leaders understanding the Airmen under their guidance and what their individual needs are. "What areas are they struggling in?" Gibson said. "Where are they out of balance? Take time out and bring your Airmen out to the classes being offered. Proactive leadership will help ensure your Airmen get the preparation and education to help both on the job and in their personal lives."
