The Air Force Assistance Fund will be conducted hereĀ from March 4 - April 12.

The AFAF, one of only two official fundraisers, is a six week campaign that aims to provide support to Air Force personnel and their families.

The donations collected will go to the Air Force Village, Air Force Aid Society, the General and Mrs. Curtis E. Lemay Foundation and the Air Force Enlisted Village.

Sheppard's 2013 fundraising goal is $85,345.

In addition to these fundraising efforts a golf tournament will be held April 8 to help raise even more awareness and funds for this charitable effort.

Helping head the effort is Master Sgt. Gail Pinson of the 982nd Maintenance Squadron.

"The great part is that everything goes back to our Airmen, both retired and active-duty," Pinson said.

Reaching everyone and making sure there is a fellowship established is one of the major objectives of AFAF.

"We aim to have 100 percent contact by the end of the second week," Pinson said.
