Italian ambassador to Washington visits with Airmen at ENJPPT Published Jan. 23, 2013 By Lt. Col. Francesco D'Agostino 80th Flying Training Wing Italian SNR SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Italian ambassador to Washington, Claudio Bisogniero, visited the Italian Air Force Senior National Representative (SNR) at Sheppard Jan. 14 -15 to take a tour and receive briefings about Italy's role in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT). During the visit, the ambassador and his delegation also met with 80th Flying Training Wing, Col. Dieter Bareihs, for an ENJJPT mission briefing attended by representatives from the 13 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries associated with the international pilot training program. Ambassador Bisogniero, who previously served first as Italy's first counselor and also as deputy Secretary General to NATO's headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, also got a first-hand look at the professionalism of the Italian Air Force during the tour. Additional highlights of the ambassador's visit included a familiarization flight in a T-38C and an off-base event with local dignitaries including the chairman of the Sheppard military affairs committee Kay Yeager, who was instrumental in the initial placement of ENJPPT at Sheppard. At the end of the visit, the ambassador addressed the Italian Air Force staff to thank them for their efforts. "You really do, with your great work each day, honor and represent the best l'Italia," Bisogniero said while also extending his gratitude to the families of the military.
