Use local TV, radio for base emergency notifications; also FB, twitter Published Dec. 19, 2012 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- For the most detailed and up to date information in the event of severe weather impacting Sheppard Air Force Base or other potentially adverse situations requiring the need to notify the base populace of information pertaining to closures, delays, etc.., please tune in to local television and radio stations in the Wichita Falls area. Information will also be disseminated via the base facebook page or the Sheppard twitter page. Due to current network security issues, the 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs office cannot post severe weather notifications that occur before or after normal duty hours on the base website. It is for this reason the use of the Sheppard facebook and twitter pages is an official source of information regarding the base's operating status. Individual units and the chain of command are also resources of information that should be utilized by assigned personnel during emergency notification situations. If there is doubt about whether or not to report for duty due to safety or other reasons if they feel the situation conflicts with the currently posted base operating status. (i.e., the roads around your homeĀ are too icy or hazardous to attempt travel but the base is operating under normal conditions, etc..), individuals are strongly encouraged to contact their supervisors for guidance and instructions.
