Two Airmen from the 82nd Force Support Squadron were included in the Air Education and Training Command selections for the 2012 AETC A1 awards announced Nov. 28.

Here's a quick look at the winners accomplishments:

2012 Force Support Airman of the Year -
Senior Airman Gil Campos -Personnel Systems Manager

Airman Campos mastered his personnel systems manager certification eight weeks early and created 99 senior level accounts within 72 hours of the wing's change of command, earning a coin from the AETC Inspector General for his efforts. As lead agent for the transaction reports section, he monitored 32,700 items and was lauded by the Air Force Personnel Center and the AETC IG for his "impeccable management" of the program. Airman Campos' incorporation of casualty augmentation support team spins and deployment scenarios into real world training resulted in 52 Airmen being combat ready, which was listed as a strength during the 2012 AETC Compliance Inspection. Off duty, he assisted in the extraction of a civilian from a burning vehicle off-base, helping ensure the victim's safety until the arrival of emergency personnel. The Newark, N.J. native also graduated with his Community College of the Air Force degree and received the Pitsenbarger scholarship award for his outstanding academic record as he pursues a nursing degree through Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.

2012 Force Support SNCO of the Year -
Master Sgt. Jennifer Holton - Superintendent, Military Personnel Section

Sergeant Holton, the 82nd Training Wing and 2nd Air Force SNCO of the Year in 2011, led the squadron to an overall "Excellent" rating and the military personnel section to an "Outstanding" rating as the main point of contact in squadron preparation for the 2012 AETC Compliance Inspection. Additionally, she guided the Air Force's largest training wing military personnel section supporting two wings, seven groups and 3,500 assigned personnel to an Air Force Personnel Center ranking of fifth, up 31 spots from the previous year. Sergeant Holton's efforts to revamp the wing's promotion process with six senior rater's and 78 boards by providing 20 hours of senior level training was named an AETC "Best Practice". The Woodbridge, Virginia native also completed senior enlisted joint Professional Military Education and is active in the Sheppard Top 3.

Both Campos and Holton will compete at the Air Force level A1 awards competition.
