Team,

I can't think of a more appropriate time to say "Thank You."

The past six months have been a huge privilege for me and my family; we have a great mission and a great team. I'm amazed and proud of the great work you all do to Train and Inspire Airmen. You not only give them the skills they need to do their jobs, but you help instill in them the values and attitudes they need to succeed as Airmen for our Great Nation.

I am constantly impressed with the people I meet as I visit the units and classrooms across Sheppard. You work hard to do the job right and take pride in the importance of what we do. General Welsh, our Chief of Staff, has said the reason we are the world's greatest Air, Space and Cyberspace Force is that we recruit the best people, we give them the best training in the world, and provide the best equipment money can buy. Our nation's challenges may make the last of those three a challenge but thanks to great people like you we will keep on providing the best training in the world no matter what.

Please have a wonderful holiday, enjoy the AETC Family Day and please come back safely on Monday. I know the safety message sometimes sounds rote and repetitious, but it's important. You are all too important to lose, so please take that safety training seriously; make positive decisions, think of responsible actions; don't drink and drive, use your seat belts, don't drive drowsy...

We have 55,000 more Airmen to Train and Inspire this fiscal year, and it will take every one of us to do it right.

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you again for all you do for our Air Force and our nation.

Regards,

MICHAEL A. FANTINI, Brig Gen, USAF
