F-15 maintainer graduates with ACE award Published April 12, 2012 By Dan Hawkins 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Airman Matthew L Carraway received the ACE Award April 12, 2012, upon graduation from the 362nd Training Squadron's F-15 aircraft maintenance course. The ACE award is the highest academic honor a student can receive and is earned for exceptional performance by maintaining a perfect 100% average through the entire course. The F-15 maintenance course covers five blocks of instruction over fighter aircraft fundamentals, egress, airframe, weapons, electrical, avionics, utility systems, hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, engines, engine starting systems, and inspections over a span of 69 academic days. The F-15 aircraft maintenance course uses eight F-15 C/D models that allow students hands-on training with real aircraft. Carraway will be assigned to the18th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan, after completion of a four-week follow on course taught at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC.
