The 82nd Force Support Squadron is bringing awareness to Sheppard's Wind Creek Golf Course with monthly town hall meetings, intramurals and multiple events in March in an effort to help the golf course become self sustaining and remain open for years to come.

The 82nd Force Support Squadron has been working hard to keep the golf course open. While there has been some progress made in recent months, there is still a need for a strong push and show of support this spring to keep the course running.

"We started town hall meetings in December to keep the members informed," said Paul Peters, director of golf at the Wind Creek Golf Course. "We have lost money for the last six years, and we are walking a real fine line on whether to keep the golf course open or close it down."

The town hall meetings are held monthly at the Wind Creek Golf Course and are used to inform the Wind Creek Golf Course community members of the current status and to get new ideas to promote business and provide a better overall experience at the golf course.

"We got some great ideas we are going to give a try," Peters said. "Really, just better overall marketing, because apparently we are not getting information out to those we thought that we were reaching."

Despite the financially-blemished past of the Wind Creek Golf Course, there have been recent changes leaving Peters very optimistic.

"Now that we are rolling into the golfing season, I think we are going to be in pretty good shape," Peters said. "We've made it easier for civilians by being able to fill out their pass online, we are really kicking up intramurals this year and we have brand new greens."

The Wind Creek Golf Course is open to the public and is looking to show off their new greens and get more community and base involvement this year.
