Inprocessing, updating paperwork, PCSing - those processes go hand-in-hand with emotions of frustration, irritation, waiting. But when it comes down to it, Sheppard knows how to take care of its people.

Representatives from finance, customer support, legal, TRICARE, the chaplains' office, Airmen & Family Readiness, and Family Advocacy gathered at Building 402 on Jan. 7 to create a one-stop shop to update paperwork for over 100 Airmen who were married over Exodus.

Staff Sgt. Melissa Wilson, NCOIC of Sheppard's customer support and two-time POC for Marriage Day, explained that the streamlined process was created to support the Sheppard training mission.

"Instead of going around the base, Marriage Day brings it to them," Wilson said. "We don't want to detract from their sole purpose of being here - training."

Most of the Airmen already have their follow-on assignments, and Marriage Day ensures that their orders are correct so they are not delayed at Sheppard.

"It reflects on the community of Sheppard as a whole," Wilson said. "We're here for them."

In addition to ensuring Airmen have what they need to move on to their next base, personnel from base agencies took advantage of Marriage Day to let the Airmen know about services available to Airmen and their spouses.
