Training room dedicated in honor of Tandy Weaver Published Nov. 2, 2011 By Joshua Wilson 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Sheppard members, friends and family gathered at the 82nd Contracting Squadron to dedicate a training room in memory of Tandy Weaver Oct. 19. Weaver was the Director of Business Operations for the 82nd Contracting Squadron and worked for the Air Force as a civilian for over 27 years. Col. Scott Chowning, 82nd Mission Support Group commander, said Weaver was responsible for bringing in over $110 million to Sheppard through various programs. "She brought $75 million worth of contracting capabilities, to include the Missile Road gate conversion project, as well as $36 million worth of support functions," Chowning said. "Weaver was also the co-author of the Air Force Strategic Plan for Small Business that is the standard today for small business planning. " David Weaver, Mrs. Weaver's husband, attended the dedication ceremony and said he was proud of his wife's accomplishments. "This is a great honor to have this training room dedicated to Tandy," Weaver said. "Tandy was focused on small business development and training, so it is very appropriate to have this training room in her name." Mrs. Weaver was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and earned her Master of Arts degree from Midwestern State University. She additionally earned a Bachelor of Science from Wayland University and an associate degree in Applied Science from Vernon College. Tandy's name will live on as her granddaughter is expecting a child and has decided to name her Tandy after her grandmother.
