Military dependents can get $2,000 need-based financial college education assistance through the Air Force Aid Society's Gen. Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program.

Prospective applicants can apply online at www.afas.org. Completed forms must be received by AFAS no later than March 11.

Those eligible for the grants include dependents of:
· Active duty military
· Title 32 active guard and reserve performing full-time duties
· Retirees
· Retired reservists
· Deceased Air Force members

Also eligible for the grants include spouses of active duty personnel and surviving spouses of deceased personnel.

All applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at an accredited college or university during the 2011-2012 academic school year. Students are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

Selection is heavily based on cost of attendance and family income. It is also dependent upon the number of applicants competing for the grants. An independent agency will determine the final need assessment.

For more information such as eligibility requirements, check out the AFAS website at www.afas.org. AFAS is a non-profit organization and is the official charity of the U.S. Air Force. It has provided emergency and educational assistance for nearly 70 years.
