Personal property moves delayed Published June 30, 2010 82nd Logistic Readiness Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- This permanent change of station season will be more challenging than usual because of limited carrier availability and saturation. Transportation companies nationwide are overwhelmed in an attempt to meet commercial and Department of Defense demands. It is recommended to schedule personal property moves 45 days ahead of your departure and not later than 30 days. Currently, carriers are contracted three weeks in advance to accept personal property moves. Members should also be aware that even though an established date for pickup is confirmed, the carrier may have to make adjustments that could impact departure times. The carrier is responsible to contact the member to make any change in arrangements. In addition, if the member requires changing their pickup dates, they must contact the carrier directly. It is important to understand that changes in pickup dates may also affect the date of release from on- and off-base quarters. Contact the quarters leasing agent immediately to keep them informed of changes that may affect a lease. For more assistance or information, call Jeanette Butler, Housing Management Flight chief, at 676-5774. Notify your unit and outbound assignments if this delay affects your departure from Sheppard.
