Sheppard to host annual Freedom Fest

Sheppard will host the annual Freedom Fest from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 3 with free admission.

A few major events planned for the 2010 Freedom Fest include a volleyball tournament, Wade Bowen concert, car show and fireworks presentation.

The volleyball tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Each team must register by June 30. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams. Registration fees must be paid the day of the event.

The car show will take place from 1 - 4 p.m. Each participant must register by June 30 and may pre-pay registration fees at the base Community Activity Center by July 2.

The concert begins at 8:30 p.m. with the fireworks demonstration following his performance. Mr. Bowen is a local artist from Waco, Texas, who has been rated highly on several artist charts to include the Billboard's Top New Artist Chart and Most Downloaded Country Album on iTunes.

- Security: Coolers, pets and weapons (knives, firearms, etc.) are prohibited in the event area; backpacks and hand-carried bags are subject to search.

- Parking: Off-base only, civilian attendees are required to use the Hospital Road Gate for entering Freedom Fest. When leaving at the end of the evening, attendees will exit from the Missile Road gate.
