CAA resumes operations after monthlong suspension Published March 31, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Adawn Kelsey 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Military Spouse Career Advancement Account program resumed operations March 13 for military spouses who have already been approved and have existing MyCAA accounts. The CAA is a centralized, virtual program that is accessed through the Military OneSource Web site. The purpose of the CAA is to provide counseling and funding of up to $6,000. The program pays tuition for education and training courses, professional licenses, certifications and credentials. The CAA announced a temporary pause Feb. 19, after the program received more than 95,000 applications from military spouses. Rhonda Gettig, 82nd Force Support Squadron Education Office guidance counselor, said the program was extended to all military branches during March 2009. "The program was just too overwhelmed," she said. "There were six times the amount of expected applicants during that year, forcing the program to come to a halt." The Military OneSource Spouse Education and Career Consultants will continue to be available to provide education and training, career exploration, assessment, employment readiness and career search assistance.
