82nd Training Wing gets UCI outbrief results Published Feb. 11, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Valerie Hosea 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Two 82nd Training Wing units earned "outstanding" rating and three of its four training groups earned "excellent" ratings as the wing completed the 2010 AETC UCI with an overall "satisfactory" rating. The Wing Safety Office and the 367th Training Squadron's Interactive Multimedia Flight earned "outstanding" ratings. The 782nd Training Group, 882nd TRG and the 982nd TRG all earned "excellent" ratings. Col. Mike Brown, the Air Education and Training Command deputy inspector general, thanked the base for its hard work, preparations, professionalism, leadership and the way Team Sheppard handled themselves over the last two weeks, calling it "truly impressive". "When we got here, we told the leadership that we were going to inspect programs not people," the colonel said. "However, we understand that without superb people you can't have great programs." The IG team named five individuals who were recognized and coined for their superior performance. Michael Tiedeman, 82nd Comptroller Squadron; Senior Airman Joe Mata, 365th Training Squadron; Staff Sgt. Timothy Leeth, 361st TRS; Master Sgt. Troy Small, 82nd TRW; and Capt. Meghan Corbett, 366th TRS. "General Lorenz asked the IG Team to come out here and give you a comprehensive deep look at how you've been doing. Not just how you're doing right now, but how you're doing everyday and how you've been doing since the last time the IG was here," the colonel said. Colonel Brown said this is probably one of the toughest inspections Airmen will face. 82nd TRW Commander Brig. Gen. O.G. Mannon said the wing members can be proud of the result. "You can be extremely proud of what we have accomplished collectively as a wing. There was a lot of individual effort, individual initiative, and individual and teamwork together. We're going to continue down that path. "However, the UCI is not over. The inspection is over but the UCI is not complete. There's more to come until we finish reestablishing the processes that will keep us moving forward so that when they come back, we'll have a bunch of stars on those [outbrief] slides," he said. The general rewarded the wing's success with an early release day Feb. 12.
