The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a two-session "5 Love Languages" class just in time for Valentine's Day Feb. 9 and 11 at 6 p.m. at the A&FRC.

Dr. Gary Chapman, author of more than 10 books, will teach the course via video based on his book "The 5 Love Languages." Robbie Monaghan, a representative from the A&FRC, will show couples a different view on love and the many ways to display it.

"Love is the most important word in our language and the most confusing word in our language," Dr. Chapman said in his video for the course. "There are many ways to say 'I love you,' but we must say it in a language the other person can understand."

The five languages are separated into five categories: words of affirmation, receiving gifts, acts of service, quality time and physical touch.

Dr. Chapman said interpreting each other's primary love languages is the key to filling each other's 'love tanks' and becoming a happier couple.

"Understanding the five love languages and learning to speak the primary love language of your spouse may radically affect his or her behavior. People behave differently when their emotional love tanks are full," the doctor said as a playful warning for his study.

Mrs. Monaghan said she feels the class could be very beneficial to all couples, even those that aren't doing so well romantically.

"Even if the couple is looking into divorce, and one person attends, that person might learn something that could impact the non-willing person in the relationship," Mrs. Monaghan said.

Mrs. Monaghan said she hopes people will learn about something most essential to 'filling love tanks'--communication.

"I hope they'll learn how to communicate better and the love language of their choice. This will teach them a little more about their partner," she said.
