The Sheppard Clinic has received its first shipment of H1N1 vaccine for high-risk patients.

The initial H1N1 vaccination clinic is scheduled for Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. Access to the clinic will only be permitted through the horseshoe entrance near the Dental Clinic. H1N1 vaccines will not be provided during normal immunization clinic hours.

The initial target population includes:

- Pregnant women and caregivers of infants younger than six months old.

- All children ages six months through 16 years old.

- Adults who have high-risk conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, emphysema or cancer.

People not included in these categories, please give priority to those listed above. Additional vaccination clinics will be scheduled as more vaccine becomes available for all other beneficiary categories.

The Sheppard Clinic is unable to provide vaccinations to non-high risk patients from this limited shipment.

People are still encouraged to get the seasonal flu vaccination. Additional announcements will be made, if and when, the Sheppard Clinic receives additional vaccine.
