The Solid Rock Café team welcomed back all of its members of the Sheppard community on Oct. 30.

The temporary home of the SRC is in Bldg. 147 on the corner of 2nd Avenue and H Avenue while the previous building will is renovated during the next 10 to 12 months.

The hours of operations for the "mini" SRC will are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday and holiday's 1 to 10 p.m.

"The only thing that has changed in our visitor's center is that the kitchen doesn't have the same commodities," said Staff Sgt. Scotty Duncan, the base student ministry NCOIC.

He said that even though the facility is smaller they still offer the same services such as counseling, games and game systems for rent and the mom and tots room. They also have a game room and they will still hold extreme worship services on Sundays.

The new location might have thrown some people off, but attendance at the mini SRC continues to grow every day.

"Even though we moved the Chapel rope program will still continue and has been growing even through the move," said Jacob McDaniel, the SRC programs coordinator.

He said that they don't want people to look at the new building as just a temporary place, but as the home of the SRC. He said that it might be smaller, but the energy in the atmosphere is still the same.

Col. Richard Hartwell, 82nd Training Wing chaplain, said the move couldn't have been done without the prestigious amount of work that Sergeant Duncan organized.

"I am impressed by his care and the care of the chaplain's assistants, the ambition of the ropes and efforts of the detail Airmen that helped us out," the Colonel said.
