Retiree Appreciation Day, a two-day celebration of events

The 82nd Training Wing Commander Brig. Gen. O.G. Mannon invites military retirees of the Wichita Falls, Northwest, North Central and Northeast areas of Texas to join in the celebration of Retiree Appreciation Day at Sheppard Air Force Base Oct. 2-3.

This year's two-day celebration includes a military appreciation golf tournament and a dinner and dance.

The agenda includes briefings on financial, medical, personnel and recreational services; a tour of Sheppard and the Heritage Center; breakfast and lunch at Wind Creek Golf Course; numerous information booths and prize drawings; and Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Force Support Squadron "specials" and Commissary sales.

The Oct. 2 Military and Retiree Appreciation Golf Tournament at Wind Creek Golf Course is a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., blind draw, four-person scramble, $1,500 in gift certificate prizes and is open to all ID card holders. The cost is $25, plus appropriate green fee which includes lunch, a cart and a souvenir. Make checks payable to Wind Creek Golf Course.

Additional special activities on Oct. 2 are as follows:

· Legal Assistance will be available during day in Bldg. 315.

· Finance Assistance - Retired pay inquiries, assistance with MyPay and PIN reset, and retired pay issues available in Building 402.

· Richard Castro, United Air Force Disability Division Combat Related Special Compensation at Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, Texas will conduct briefings on the CRSC and provide assistance in preparing a claim in accordance with this program in the Conference Room of the Retiree Activities Office, Bldg. 1638.

The dinner and dance Oct. 3 is a coat-and-tie affair, affording retirees an opportunity to dress up and dine, visit with previous acquaintances from their "first careers" and to relive some of those experiences for times past.

Music will be provided by the 77th Field Artillery Band, Fort Sill, Okla. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., dinner will be at 6:50 p.m. Due to limited capacity of the Sheppard Club, reservations will be processed on a first-come, first served basis. The cost is $12 per person. Tickets can be purchased from the Retiree Activities Office, Room 101, Bldg. 1638.
